SPARTANBURG, S.C. -

Severe weather is moving into the Upstate and mountains Thursday.

Forecast

A cold front will sweep through the area this afternoon and evening.  Along and ahead of the front, strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible, according to Storm Team 7.

The main threat will be strong, straight-line winds...but some hail or an isolated tornado can not be ruled out, Meteorologist Dan Bickford explains.

In the wake of this front, skies will clear overnight.

Expect more typical mid-June temperatures Friday and through the weekend.  We should see a lot of sunshine, with mostly dry conditions.

We'll be back to some afternoon/evening t-storm chances for early next week.

Alerts

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for the entire viewing area until 8 p.m.  Get the latest severe weather alerts by clicking here.
