GREENWOOD, S.C. -

An Upstate man is getting recognition for volunteer work.

Harvey Lansing, 84, will be named South Carolina's Outstanding Senior Volunteer Thursday afternoon in Greenwood County. He was chosen to receive the honor through the Salute to Senior Service program. It celebrates the contributions senior volunteers make in communities across the country.

According to a press release, Lansing works at Hospice Care of Piedmont, Abbeville Hospital and Meals on Wheels - Abbeville Senior Center. He is the official Hospice House greeter, welcoming guests at the location in Greenwood.

In his honor, Home Instead Senior Care will donate $500 to Hospice Care of Piedmont. He also will be featured on the Salute to Senior Service Wall of Fame. Click here for more information.
