An Abbeville County native and executive who works in Anderson County has received the Order of the Palmetto.

The Anderson Independent-Mail reports Kristi King-Brock, who has been the executive director of Anderson Interfaith Ministries since it started 23 years ago, received the state's highest civilian honor this afternoon at the Anderson Arts Center.

State Representative Mike Gambrell represented Governor Nikki Haley and made the presentation.

The Order of the Palmetto recognizes lifetime achievements and contributions to the state.

Anderson Interfaith Ministries works to help those people and families in need in Anderson County.

AIM has several ministry programs - including those that deal with hunger, emergency assistance, financial literacy along with helping women and children.

King-Brock tells the Independent-Mail she credits her staff and hundred of volunteers for the honor.
