ANDERSON, SC -

An Anderson man with a lengthy criminal history wasn't out of prison long before cops say he was arrested and charged again.

Deputies say Timothy James Edwards held a hotel clerk at knife point and robbed the place last Friday.

His rap sheet has a long list of misdemeanor and felony charges attempted armed robbery, larceny and violating probation.

His last sentence for 15 years listed back in 2011 for strong arm robbery was cut in half by a judge.

7 On Your Side asked the state probation department why he was out on the street already.

They did not have an answer, besides to say he likely was given credit for time served awaiting a trial.

His new charges of kidnapping and armed robbery will be prosecuted in the 10th circuit.

"We want to make sure that the community remains safe at all times so we will seek the maximum sentence that we possibly can," Solicitor Chrissy Adams said.

He faces up to 30 years in prison. The solicitors office expects to take his record into account.
