GRIFTON, N.C. -

A Lenoir County man is under arrest after deputies say they caught him with nearly 50lbs of marijuana and about $10,000 in suspected drug money.

Deputies arrested Jimmy Dale Britt, 60, of Grifton at a checkpoint in Lenoir County on Saturday, June 15. Deputies say when they smelled marijuana they opened his trunk. Inside Britt's trunk they found four large bails of marijuana, each weighing about 10lbs.

But the investigation didn't stop there. Deputies obtained a search warrant for Britt's home. There they seized about six more pounds of marijuana.

Britt is charged with trafficking marijuana among other charges. He's being held at the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $55,000 secured bond.
