A worldwide Christian sports league for youth broke ground on massive multi-sport complex in Spartanburg Tuesday.

Upward Sports kicked off the project on White Star Point with a ceremony.  Several Spartanburg County leaders were there.

Officials say the $19 million project will cover 60 acres.  They also believe the complex will have a multi-million-dollar impact on the local economy.

Upward says there will be retail store opportunities and jobs available.  They have also booked a national sports ministry conference that is set to bring 500 to 1,000 people to the county.

The complex is set to open in September of next year.
