WELLFORD, S.C. -

Bill Drake, a longtime Upstate celebrity, shared his talent with Hollywild Animal Park in Wellford.

Drake recorded announcements that will play daily at the park. That includes the Safari Bus Rides, Creature Feature shows, pony rides, and even the end of the day.

Drake's recognizable voice has made its mark on his radio leadership for more than 50 years.

With almost 30 of those in Spartanburg alone, he's set an unmistakable tone for the culture of the Upstate as well.  His voice and deeds, from serving on numerous organizational boards, volunteering at the Soup Kitchen, and leading the Battle of the Brains program that challenges middle school students across the region, and serving as ‘the voice' to many sporting events, have made him a household name in the Upstate.

"Bill's volunteering to do our announcements is real treasure to us.  He sets a wonderful example of service to community and we're thrilled he will now join our animal stars as part of the Hollywild family," said Mary Lee Rollins, Hollywild's Assistant Director.

The public can hear Bill Drake's announcements at the animal park every day during their summer hours in June and July 9 AM – 4 PM weekdays and 10 AM – 5PM weekends.
