A man who says he was mad at the world has been charged with vandalizing American flags in Spartanburg County.

Sheriff Deputies say 21-year-old Jessee James Bailey ripped down 16 flags along Highway 9 in Boiling Springs. They had been put up by the American Legion near Valley Falls Rd.

They say Bailey admitted to the crime after a witness called them. He has been charged with Malicious Injury to Property.

The flags were provided by the American Legion, which raises money to put them up every patriotic holiday.  They were put in place for the Fourth of July, and now the organization is trying to find someone to replace them.
