Byrnes Season Opener Includes Interesting Twist

Posted: Updated:

As Byrnes High prepares for its season opener August 24th against visiting Apopka (FL) High, another appearance on national TV against an out of area opponent, there will also be an interesting dynamic at work.

Byrnes head coach Bobby Bentley not only will have his son Shuler back at the controls of his offense but the opposing quarterback in the game is the son of that team's head coach, according to Bentley.

Byrnes went 12-2 a season ago and while it's played several opponents from outside of the area over the past decade, this is its first home opening game scheduled for a Saturday under such a set-up since 2006.
