Companies Team Up to Build House for Anderson Man

Posted: Updated:

Several companies gathered to build a house for an Upstate man.

The Anderson Independent-Mail reports the house construction is part of the first "Executive Build" started by Habitat for Humanity.

Nine local companies teamed up to build a house for Sammy Robinson of Anderson and will pay for $45,000 of the construction costs.

Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County says the total cost is $70,000, which Robinson will pay back over the course of a 20 year interest free loan.

Employees from each of the partnering companies will volunteer to build the house.

Volunteers from local churches also joined in to help.  The house is being built in a subdivision off White Street Extension on Anderson's southeast side.

When the house is finished it will be the first home that Robinson has owned in 53 years.

Robinson was selected to purchase the home through Habitat's home ownership program.

The organization says they require all homeowners who are approved must have a minimum credit score, have an income and they must be willing to work on the home's construction.
