Hendersonville Police officers arrested a man who was wanted in New York on a variety of charges.

Hendersonville Police Chief Herbert Blake stated that officers responded to Interstate Hardware on Sugarloaf Road Friday morning after receiving a report of a man who tried to steal gas from the store. According to Blake, the officers spoke with a store employee who had confronted the man, identified as 36-year-old Daniel T. Wilson, of Buffalo, New York, after he failed to pay for the gas.

Officers searched the area and located a car from Ohio, which had been reported stolen, in the parking lot of the Golden Corral on Chimney Rock Road. They continued to search the area and located Wilson, who matched the description of the suspect given to them by the store employee.

After placing him under arrest, officers discovered that Wilson was wanted from New York on burglary charges and a parole violation. He admitted to fleeing New York for Florida to avoid facing the charges, Blake stated.

He is also facing charges of possessing a stolen car, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and larceny of motor fuel.

Wilson is being held at the Henderson County Detention Center on a $309,300 bond.
