Posted: Updated:

A woman convicted in a crash that killed her passenger will not serve any prison time after asking for a break because she has young children.

The accident happened on Interstate 85 in Anderson County in May 2011.

31-year-old Sheena Patterson pleaded guilty to reckless homicide.

Patterson's passenger Elisah Ward died when the car went down an embankment and hit an Oak Tree.

7 On Your Side's coverage partners at the Independent-Mail report Patterson received an eight year sentence, which is suspended to four years of home detention with electronic monitoring.
