Police Say SCHP Trooper's Badge, Baton Stolen In Anderson

Posted: Updated:
ANDERSON, SC -

Anderson Police are investigating the theft of a Highway Patrol trooper's badge, baton and body armor.

Investigators are worried the thief may use the credentials to their advantage. Police say the South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers items - including a flashlight - were stolen Wednesday in Anderson.

Law enforcement is asking you to be on the alert. If anyone pulls you over in an unmarked car - and it doesn't feel right - you can call 911 and tell dispatchers where you are and describe the car.

The operator can tell you if they have units in the area. Police say if you don't want to pull over because it's not a safe area, slow down and turn on your warning lights.

That will signal a real officer that you will pull over, but are looking for a safer area.

Police say you should only pull over for blue lights.
