A Raleigh man is facing charges of human trafficking in Pitt County.

Wednesday the Pitt County Sheriff's Office received a tip from Polaris Human Trafficking hot line about a possible case in the area.

Deputies contacted the victim and learned she is 18-years-old.  The victim said she's been under the control of a pimp for years.  She also said she was in fear of her life and needed to get out.

Deputies found and arrested her alleged pimp Tyrone Robinson of Raleigh.  He's charged with human trafficking sexual servitude and solicitation of prostitution.

Pitt County Sheriff's detectives rescued the 18-year-old girl after they say undercover deputies were asked by Robinson to pay only $60 to purchase her and her time at the Microtel in Greenville.  She has been placed in a secured location.

Organization RestoreOne is assisting with the victims recovery.  Exec. Director Anna Smith and her husband, Chris, say Human Trafficking is an invisible war that their organization will continue to fight.  They say community involvement is the only way to stamp out human trafficking.

Smith says Eastern North Carolina is one of the top ten hot spots in the nation for human trafficking.  She says the ease of travel with multiple highways and ports make it easy to move the trafficking victims through the state.

Robinson was placed in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 secure bond.
