The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) honored school record holder Robert Razick as a 2012 Capital One Second Team Academic All-American, the organization announced on Thursday.

The designation marks the fifth year in a row that a Gamecock has been recognized by the organization as an Academic All-American. Currently, South Carolina is in the midst of a run that has seen a selection in seven of the last nine years.

Razick, the 2013 South Carolina Scholar-Athlete of the Year, has been named to the President's list and the Dean's list as well as earning SEC Academic Honor Roll honors each year of his career in the Garnet and Black. The Florence, S.C, native is also a recipient of the James T. Penney Award which is given to one student at South Carolina who has show outstanding course work in the field of science while participating in college athletes.

With the track team, the former walk-on and three-year captain set two school records during the 2013 indoor track season. At the 2013 Southeastern Conference Championships, Razick ran a 4:06.47 mile, the fastest time by a Gamecock in 31 years, becoming the first South Carolina male to score in the event since 1995. Razick also broke the 3,000-meter school record that had stood since 1975 with a time of 8:16.00. The Gamecock collected three wins in the past two seasons and also ranks in the South Carolina top 10 in the 1,500-meter run.

At the 2013 Weems Baskin Invitational, Razick was given as the Horse Award winner.  The award recognizes a South Carolina senior on the track and field team who encompasses a competitive spirit, tremendous work ethic and a zeal for making his team better.

A biological sciences major with a 3.90 GPA, Razick will be attending Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to pursue a career as a doctor.

Razick joins David Triassi (Florida, First Team), Anton Kokorin (Arkansas, Second Team) and Marcus Popenfoose (Auburn, Third Team) as the only SEC student-athletes to be named to the team.
