ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. -

Deputies have arrested a man who they say was caught in the process of stealing an ATV at an Anderson County motorsports dealer.

A store employee at Foothills Motorsports in the Powdersville Area tells 7 On Your Side that motion sensor cameras triggered an alarm at the store around 7 a.m.

When authorities arrived, they found a suspect trying to steal a side-by-side ATV.

The deputy fired a shot, hitting the ATV after the man drove it through a fence, authorities say.

The suspect ditched the ATV about a mile after fleeing.  Jeffrey Michael Gilstrap, 29 was arrested soon after that on Highway 153.  He is charged with grand larceny and possession of burglary tools.

Eric Crowe at Foothills Motorsports says this is the third time the business has been broken into in one month.  Owners say $40,000 worth of vehicles has been taken.
