SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -

Three firefighters were injured fighting a fire at a business in Spartanburg County Friday.

The fire marshal says they suffered from heat exhaustion inside The Open Club on South Pine Street.

One of the firefighters was taken to the hospital.

South Pine Street was closed while firefighters work to get the fire under control.

A total of 40 firefighters had to help out and seven different departments joined in.

Croft District Fire Chief Lewis Hayes said when it gets this hot, the key is to provide a lot of relief.

"For every guy that you have engaged fighting you need two or three guys who are waiting as reserves," he said.

All three firefighters should be ok.

Investigators believe it could have started as an electrical fire, but no official cause has been determined.
