Man leaps from moving car to avoid being shot

GOLDSBORO, N.C. -

A Goldsboro man is under arrest after shooting through a windshield at another man in a grocery store parking lot.

On June 3, 2013 officers from the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a shooting in the parking lot of Beestown Grocery, formally Manhattan's Grocery. The suspect shot into the vehicle while the victim was inside, the victim jumped from his moving vehicle to avoid injury. The vehicle traveled across Slocumb Street and crashed into a fence.

After several interviews police developed Javarius Rashad Williams, 20, as a suspect and on June 11 an arrest warrant was secured for Williams. Williams was arrested on June 25 during a traffic stop in the Dudley area of Wayne County on weapons charges and providing false information to law enforcement. Williams was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $210,000.00 secured bond and made his first court appearance on June 26, 2013.
