GREENVILLE, S.C. -

A Greenville County sheriff's deputy has been hurt when a vehicle hit two patrol cars.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck that happened early Sunday morning.

Sheriff's spokesman Jonathan Smith says two deputies had pulled over while responding to a disturbance call when a car came over a hill and crashed into both patrol cars.

Smith says one deputy had just stepped out of the car and was thrown in the air by the impact of the crash.

The officer was treated and released from Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Smith says both patrol cars had their blue lights activated.

The driver of the car who hit the patrol cars was also taken to the hospital. There was no word on any possible charges.
