The Health Adventure Closing After 45 Years

Posted: Updated:

The Health Adventure in Asheville is closing its doors after 45 years on July 14th. The museum was founded in 1968 by the Buncombe County Medical Society Auxiliary, also known as the "founding Mothers". It's one of the first health education centers of its kind in the country.

The museum's board says after redevelopment of Biltmore Square Mall and a 40% cut from the funding from the State of North Carolina, it cannot afford to stay open.

Members will have a choice regarding the remainder of membership. You can choose to keep your membership cards that allow you to visit other ASTC institutions without fees or you may return your membership cards for a pro-rated reimbursement.
