PICS: Townville Dad Mows Supportive Message for Son

Posted: Updated:

A Townville dad wanted to show his support for his son who leaves for the Army next week. He wrote a special message for him in his front lawn.

"I walked out to the road and I was like, 'Wow,' he really did that, it was crazy." says Sam Kellett, "I couldn't believe it."

Sam's dad, Dan Kellett, used a push mower to create a message in his lawn. The message reads "We Love U Sam" with "Go Army" and the Army star on the side.

"I love him and I'm proud of him," Dan says.

It was especially surprising to Sam because his dad loves his lawn. Dan cuts his lawn two or three times a week. While he's drinking his morning coffee he's also picking out rogue crab grass. He calls his yard, his "other baby."

"It's just a way to express my love to him and show how proud I am of him, and show him, get the lawn mower out and show him," Dan says.

Sam has always wanted to do something meaningful with his life and felt joining the Army would help him accomplish his goal.

"I want something to be proud of I want something to look back on and say I did something worth doing," Sam says.

Dan's emotions are mixed.

"After he's deployed I just put faith in the Good Lord to take care of him and hope for the best," Dan says.
