Deputies Arrested Jerry Ward, Jr. for Attempted Murder Deputies Arrested Jerry Ward, Jr. for Attempted Murder
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -

Deputies arrested Jerry Allen Ward, Jr. after they say he went to his parents house with a machete and threatened to kill them.

Deputies were called out to a home on Fort Prince Road Thursday. The couple told 911 their son was on their porch, yelling obscenities and said it would all end tonight. The couple said their son had a desire to kill them.

Mr. Ward explained they were in the process of going through Family Court to gain custody of their grandson, and that their son was quite upset by that. Mr. Ward told deputies his son has a drug and alcohol problem and that they were worried about what he might do.

Deputies searched for Jerry Ward, Jr. but could not find him.

A short time later, deputies were called back to the Ward's home. This time, when the deputy arrived, he saw Jerry Ward, Jr. in the driveway, with a machete.

The deputy told Ward to drop the weapon, but Ward refused. According to the incident report, Ward told the deputy the weapon was attached to his wrist and "I'm giving you a square shot, make it count."

After telling Ward repeated times to drop the weapon, Ward eventually listened to the deputy, and got down on the ground. The deputy held Ward there, until backup arrived and arrested Ward.
