UPDATE: Victim identified in Greenville stabbing, Police searching for suspect

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Police have identified the victim in the alleged stabbing that occurred outside of the Rivers Edge East Apartments in Greenville.

Police say 31-year-old Douval Rogers was stabbed multiple times while in his Jeep Friday evening. Greenville Police are still on the lookout for a suspect. If you have any information you are urged to call the Greenville Police Department at (252) 329-4434.

Previous Story:

More than 12 hours after an alleged stabbing occurred outside of the Rivers Edge East Apartments, police have cleared the scene, but the investigation into what led into this incident is still ongoing.

"It's pretty quiet and all I heard were the shots." Katherin Thomas says she was watching TV at a neighbor's apartment Friday night before hearing what she thought to be gun shots.

"We heard like six shots ring out, and it was mighty close, so we looked out the window and the man was laying there." Thomas said.

That's when police say they rushed to rivers edge east apartments in Northeast Greenville and found the unidentified man. Witnesses say he was lying near this bronze s-u-v you see here. At this time, police can't confirm the man was shot; their information suggests a stabbing took place.

"It appears that this is some kind of dispute. We believe that the man knows who attacked him but at this time we are not up on a motive just yet." Sgt. Joe Friday said.

But regardless of what happened, Thomas says these types of events seem to happen quite often and, for her, it's a cause for concern.

"It worries me a lot because people have children here and we don't want to be afraid to walk outside our doors without getting shot." Thomas said.

Police are asking for your help to get to the bottom of this incident. If you have any information you are urged to call the Greenville Police Department at (252) 329-4434.
