Emergency Shelter In Mauldin Closed Tuesday Morning

Due to severe weather in the Upstate Monday evening, a temporary shelter was opened inside of First Baptist Church of Mauldin. Due to severe weather in the Upstate Monday evening, a temporary shelter was opened inside of First Baptist Church of Mauldin.

The American Red Cross is closing the shelter at First Baptist Church of Mauldin Tuesday morning.  Officials wanted to be sure that if anyone needed a place to stay after Monday night's storms that the space was available. No one sought shelter at the facility.

Due to severe weather in the Upstate Monday evening, there has been a temporary shelter opened inside of First Baptist Church of Mauldin.

First Baptist is located at 150 S. Main St in Mauldin and is now open to receive individuals and families being affected by flooding in the Upstate.

The operation is being organized by Western Carolinas Red Cross, and according to spokesman Brian Scoles, the church is ready to receive up to 150 people who may be in need of shelter after storms Monday night.
