Flooding Leads To Sinkhole In Simpsonville

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -

Monday night's heavy rain caused problems for people in Greenville County.  In Simsponville a sinkhole closed part of Harness Trail just of SC-14.  The sink hole is the size of a small car and three feet deep. Water could also be seen running underneath the roadway.  Crews have not said when repairs could be made.

In the Pelham Community of Greenville County, flooding blocked access to the Del Norte subdivision. Drivers either had to stay out or not leave home on Monday night.

Teenage driver Matt Muenster did the right thing when he saw flooding, "I was on my way home and the roads were blocked off because the bridge was flooded and so we had to go all the way around to get home. What I was always told is, turn around don't drown. it's my life motto."

The flooding quickly receded after the storms cleared.
