GREENVILLE, S.C. -

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office tells us an accident on I-85 Tuesday morning is being investigated as an "intentional act."

Spokesman Jonathan Smith says a man attempted to commit suicide by walking out in front of an 18-wheeler on the Interstate near Exit 48B, Laurens Road or US-276.

The tractor-trailer driver swerved to try to miss the man, who was still struck by the cab door and tires of the trailer.

The man was injured and taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he is expected to survive.

Authorities later identified the man as Robbie Louico Hand, 50, of Greer.  They say Hand was wanted for criminal sexual conduct with a minor.  Police were searching for him, until today.

They say he will be taken into custody when he is finished being treated for his injuries.
