Reidville Fire Employee Charged With Taking $75K

A long time Reidville Fire Department employee is accused of taking over $75,000 from the department.

Darlene S. DeYoung, 64, of Reidville is charged breach of trust greater than $10,000 by the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office. 

Investigators determined DeYoung used fire department funds of over $75,000 between January, 2010 and last month according to the arrest warrant.

SCSO investigators took on the case after a complaint by the fire department.

DeYoung worked for RFD for 43 years according to our coverage partners at The Herald-Journal.

DeYoung turned herself in Thursday morning at the detention facility and will appear before a magistrate for bond arraignment later.
