RALEIGH, N.C. -

Raleigh police are searching for a person who was said to have been struck by an Amtrak passenger train Friday night at the intersection of Beryl Road and Hillsborough Street.

Police received the call at approximately 8:30 p.m., and were told that the train's engineer thought he struck a pedestrian.

Investigators searched the wooded areas surrounding the tracks for hours but didn't find anyone who may have been injured by the train.

Amtrak confirmed that the train was 76 from Charlotte, which was originally scheduled to arrive at the Raleigh station at 8:26 p.m. The train didn't pull into the Raleigh station until after 10:30 p.m.
