Ware Shoals, SC -

Someone purchased a $40,000 winning powerball lottery ticket and hasn't cashed it in.

The SC Education Lottery will allow that ticket to expire Monday at 4:00pm.

The ticket was sold at Country Corner Express in Ware Shoals back in January.

"Whoever comes every day for the lottery, I try to give the numbers every day. I say keep on checking, keep on checking you might be the lucky winner," store owner Divia Modi said.

The SC Education Lottery racked up a total of $12.4 million in unclaimed prizes in 2012.

Some of that money is going toward buying new school buses.

The winning numbers form the January 16 drawing that won out of Ware Shoals is 9 -21- 28 - 32 - 51 with a Powerball of 35.
