Authorities have found the body of a Greenville, S.C., man who disappeared while swimming near a North Carolina waterfall several days ago.

The U.S. Forest Service told the Times-News of Hendersonville (http://bit.ly/17vD3aq) that 36-year-old Jermaine Maffett's body was recovered Saturday. They did not provide any details.

Investigators say Maffett was swimming with three friends on July 15 at Turtleback Falls on the Horsepasture River near Brevard when he disappeared. The friends told authorities that Maffett jumped off of a large rock, struggled in the water, then went under.

A search for a missing swimmer in Transylvania County has been called off after rescue workers searched for most of the afternoon and evening without success.

According to our news coverage partners with the Hendersonville Times-News emergency responders postponed the search for a man who had jumped 12-to-14 feet off the rocks across from Turtleback Falls. The man resurfaced twice, according to the newspaper, but struggled and went under the 14-feet deep water and never resurfaced.

The Times-News reports that swift-water rescue workers searched the water up and down the  Horsepasture River, and the North Carolina State Patrol helicopter flew over the water, but found no signs of the swimmer. The search will continue at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
