Rescuers Using Catch Fences To Find Missing Swimmer In Transylvania County

Wednesday, July 17, 2013 Update at 5:30 a.m.

The U.S. Forest Service and firefighters from several departments including Lake Toxaway will continue looking for a missing swimmer on Wednesday.  They have placed catch fences downstream from Turtleback Falls on the Horsepasture River to try and find him.  Elevated water levels and strong currents have made search efforts more difficult.

Tuesday, July 16, 2013 Update

Rescuers from several agencies will look for a missing swimmer for a second day on Tuesday in Transylvania County.

According to 7 On Your Side's coverage partners at the Times-News, a 36-year-old man jumped into Turtleback Falls on the Horsepasture River on Monday.

He resurfaced twice but went under again and was not found.

Crews will continue the search at 8:00 a.m. in Gorges State Park. To read more on this story, click here.
