Greenwood County to Test Sirens Wednesday Morning

Posted: Updated:
GREENWOOD COUNTY, S.C. -

Wednesday may be a bit noisy for residents in Greenwood County.

The county's emergency management officials say they'll hold a test of the emergency siren system at 9 a.m.

The county will have people monitoring the sirens, but residents are also asked to listen out for the sirens. If you think the siren in your area isn't working, call the county emergency office at 864-942-8553. You should be able to provide a street address so officials can pinpoint which siren needs work.

This isn't the first time Greenwood County has scheduled a test of the sirens. Officials had to cancel two prior tests earlier this month due to bad weather. However, county leaders say the National Weather Service let them know Wednesday should be clear enough for them to finally complete testing.
