ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. -

An electrical short is believed to be the cause of a fire at an Upstate textile plant, according to Anderson County Fire Chief Billy Gibson. Firefighters responded to a fire alarm activation and call to 911 at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Orian Rugs plant at 2415 South Highway 81.

Gibson says when firefighters got to the scene the sprinkler system was going off in a small office next to the sample room. Tools and equipment are stored in the office. Gibson says carpet stored in the sample room.  He says the fire was put out by the sprinkler system.

The plant was evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported to employees or firefighters.

Gibson says the plant would be down a couple of hours on production line. He said there was some water damage to office and sample room.
