GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -

A Fountain Inn man is dead after the moped he was riding collided with a car Thursday night.

The Greenville County Coroner says James Rufus Cook, 58, died at the scene on Highway 276 around 10:40 p.m.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says Cook was riding a moped when he was involved in a collision with a Toyota on 276 at Neely Ferry Road.

Troopers say the moped went on the wrong side of the road and was hit by a driver from Simpsonville. The driver of the Toyota wasn't injured.

Cook died from blunt force trauma injuries to his head and chest.
