COLUMBIA, S.C. -

Gov. Nikki Haley is scheduled to tour the facilities of a Columbia gun manufacturer.

Her office says the Republican is planning to talk with reporters Friday after she tours FN Manufacturing.

A year ago, officials announced that the Columbia Police Department's officers soon would be carrying FN's 9 mm pistol, designed specifically for police officers.

Last month, Haley was on hand when gun maker PTR Industries announced it was relocating to South Carolina from its home in Bristol, Conn. That manufacturer said it opted to move to Aynor after Connecticut passed stricter gun laws in April in response to the killings of 20 children and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
