People got creative to help feed the hungry. Hub City Empty Bowls held an event at the Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg Saturday.

The goal is to make over a thousand bowls to be used for Soup Day on November 9th. That's when hundreds of people will donate cash in exchange for the bowls filled with soup donated by local restaurants.

The event raises money for Total Ministries, which uses the money to feed the hungry.

"It's a good feeling when you give back and in this day time when the economy is bad, lot of people are out of work," said Patsy Simmons of Carolina Clay Artists, "so we want to spread around the resources that we have and one of the resources we have is clay artists. We can give back to people who don't have food."
