PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. -

Investigators are checking to see if a cooking accident started an early morning fire that killed two children in Pickens County.

The fire started Sunday morning at a mobile home on Daisy Drive in the Dacusville community.

The Pickens County Coroner's Office said 7-year-old Timothy Graham and 4-year-old Devin Graham died at the scene.

The mother and a 2-year-old child were home at the time and had to be rushed to a hospital for burns.

Neighbors jumped in to try to help when they saw the fire..

"There were kids in there," said Sharon Craft.  "I knew there was kids in there and my husband came out and found the mother and she had the two year old and he tried to get in but he couldn't get in to do anything.  I had the baby with me trying to take care of it until somebody got here.  How heartbreaking it is, I mean you know, that thing just went up so fast there was nothing you could do to get them out. just heartbreaking."

Deputies think the fire was an accident, because the mother told neighbors she was cooking when the fire started near the stove.

Investigators are unsure if the home had working smoke detectors.  The mother and 2-year-old are being treated at the Augusta Burn Center.
