Posted: Updated:

U.S. Senator Kay Hagan today announced that Asheville Regional Airport has been selected to receive a $2.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to construct a new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (AARF) building, which will help the Airport meet federal safety requirements.

“This grant will help the Asheville Airport continue to meet the high passenger safety standards set for all of our airports,” Hagan said. “I continue to support investments in our transportation infrastructure that will help our economy and make our state even stronger.”

The grant is part of the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which provides funding for improvements related to enhancing airport safety, capacity, security, and environmental issues.
