Tyger River Detention Officer Charged With Aiding Escape From Prison

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -

The SC Department of Corrections reports Corporal Jeffrey Miller, an officer at Tyger River Correctional Institution provided and inmate with a pattern to a key to a housing unit.

The report says the pattern was a Styrofoam impression of a master key was provided on two occasions to an inmate named Maurice Harvey.

According the SCDC website Harvey is serving 20 years for voluntary manslaughter.

The warrant says this key allowed accessed to doors of the housing unit.

They say Miller admitted his guilt in a signed statement.

Miller is charged with two counts of misconduct in office and aiding escape from prison.
