Case continued for Green Hope coach charged with having child porn

CARY, N.C. -

The case for a high school girls' soccer coach charged with possession of child porn was continued in Wake County Court Monday.

Robert Peterson, 43, is charged with six counts of third degree exploitation of a minor. Peterson was a soccer coach at Green Hope High before resigning from his position.

Peterson could face a minimum of 39 months in prison for each count if convicted.

Warrants showed pages and pages of visits to a child porn website by Peterson. Police say he entered a chatroom to talk with another visitor, who was actually a detective.

The Green Hope girls' soccer team won the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4A state championship in May.

The Falcons finished the season undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the nation.

Peterson also taught social studies at Green Hope.
