Driver won't face charges in fatal Raleigh pedestrian accident

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Charges are not likely to be filed against a driver who struck a pedestrian in the middle of a major highway Sunday night.

Raleigh police say a vehicle driven by Brian Slattery was exiting Interstate 440 to get on to eastbound U.S. 264. As Slattery was exiting off I-440, he struck Robert Wiita Jr.  

Wiita Jr., died as a result of his injuries from the crash.

Police have not filed charges in the case and none are expected to be filed.
