Gospel Lighthouse Prison Evangelism was founded in 1998 by Dr. J.W. Stansell. The main purpose and goal of this ministry will always be to shine the light of the Gospel behind the dark walls of prison. However, we realize that with each inmate we minister to, there is at least one innocent victim. The innocent victims of crime must not be forgotten. Therefore, on the second Saturday of every August Gospel Lighthouse Prison Evangelism hosts an annual Victims Advocate Day.
· At each year's event, our ministry donates backpacks filled with needed items to Helping Hands of Clemson, a local children's shelter that houses physically and sexually abused children.
· We provide handmade pillows, toys and teddy bears for Rape Crisis Council of Pickens County's annual Kamp Kid.
· We donate needed items to Mary's House.
· We donate Teddy Bears to Pickens County Sheriff's Dept. for their patrol cars.
We need donations of materials and money. GLPE is a 501(c)3 ministry, so your gifts are tax deductible.
If you or your church would like to learn more about Gospel Lighthouse Prison Evangelism and our annual Victims Advocate Day program, please feel free to call Dr. J.W. Stansell at (864) 507-0041. Dr. Stansell will also gladly come and present our ministry to your church or home group as well.
We will show a touching presentation about child abuse. Sheriff Rick Clark will be a special guest at this year's VAD; and we will honor him with a special plaque [We always support law enforcement]. Rev. Calvin Branch will be this year's main speaker.
This year's event will be held at Carolina Community Church, 132 Front St. in Liberty, SC. Dr. John Revis is the Sr. Pastor.
