Man Arrested In Armed Purse Robbery In Asheville - August 12, 2013

A man accused of stealing a purse and pulling a knife on security officers at a Walmart in Asheville has been arrested.

Police say 22-year-old Dakota Carney of Asheville is charged with common law robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

He is under $35,000 bond at the Bunbombe County Detention Facility.

Asheville Police Search For Suspected Purse Thief Who Pulled Knife - August 9, 2013

Asheville Police need your help to find a man who stole a purse at Walmart and pulled a knife on security officers who tried to catch him.

APD reports the robbery happened at the store at 125 Bleachery Boulevard on Tuesday around 7:30 p.m.

The man reportedly followed the 77-year old victim around the store for some time and grabbed her purse as she walked to her car.

Walmart security and other witnesses chased the man in the parking lot and Swannanoa River Road after the theft, before he pulled a knife and threatened them.

The robber continued to run before he was picked up by someone driving a 2006 or 2007 silver or gray two- door Pontiac G6 with tinted windows. The car had a North Carolina tag.

The robber was described a a white man in his mid 20's standing 5'9" to 6'0, weighing 170 to 190 pounds. He was wearing a black T-shirt with the word "Hysteria" across the front and blue jeans at the time.
