A driver was injured after he collided with a S.C. Highway Patrol trooper’s vehicle that was stopped to assist a disabled driver Monday morning.

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office reports the accident happened on southbound Interstate 85 near the 33 mile marker around 8:45 a.m.

Deputies say the trooper's SUV was parked in the emergency lane with emergency lights displayed to help a disable motorist when the vehicle was hit by an SUV driven by Shay Mack Buffamoyer, 25, of Easley.

Buffamoyer was the only person injured in the crash. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. There is no word on his condition.

Deputies issued traffic tickets for Buffamoyer for driving too fast for conditions and not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash blocked all three lanes of the Interstate for nearly an hour.
