WALHALLA, SC -

A reward has been offered in the unsolved murder of a man from Oconee County.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office announced that a $10,000 reward has been offered leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) involved in the December 1986 beating death of Marcus Lee. According to the sheriff's office, Lee was found beaten to death at his home at the intersection of Richland Road and North Seed Farm Road on December 8. He suffered a traumatic head injury and sheriff's office investigators believe he knew his attacker(s).

"Mark Lee was well known in the community," Sheriff Mike Crenshaw said. "He owned and operated a lawn mower/motorcycle repair shop beside his home. Some of these cold cases are like putting a puzzle together. You can see what the puzzle is supposed to be but you need to find the missing one or two pieces in order to make it complete. I believe there is someone out there that has the missing pieces our investigators need to complete this case.

The case is the longest unsolved murder case in the county. Numerous leads have dried up in the case, investigators say.

If anyone has any information or tips concerning the case you are asked to contact the Oconee County Sheriff's Office at (864) 638-4111.
