RALEIGH, N.C. -

Wake County parents are demanding answers after two children got on the wrong school vans and were taken to the wrong after-school daycare center Tuesday.

The students left Preeminent Charter School in Raleigh, but ended up at Kids Playworld in Raleigh. The students were dropped off shortly after 3 p.m. and were not located until around 8 p.m., when police reunited the boy and girl with their respective parents.

One of the kids usual van driver quickly took action when she realized 5-year-old daughter Ava Washington was not in her van.

"I was terrified," the driver said. "I immediately panicked and texted my director to let them know they couldn't locate Ava. I was out of my mind with worry."

Ava's mother, Lori Spivey, said she wants to know how the mix-up could have happened.

"It's upsetting," she said Wednesday.

While she is now safely back where she belongs and "happy" to be reunited with her mother, Ava said she as "just a little bit" scared.

Preeminent Charter School refused to do an on-camera interview, but released a statement saying it is investigating the incident.  Kids Playworld also refused an interview.
