Police Chase Ends In Deadly Motorcycle Wreck

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -

A motorcycle rider has died in Greenville County following a chase, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers say it happened on Howard Drive near Fountain Inn at just before 12:30 Thursday morning.

Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis says the Fountain Inn Police Department was involved in the chase with the motorcycle.

The motorcycle then crashed into an SUV, throwing the 21-year-old driver of the motorcycle, identified as Zachary Ross Shaver of Fountain Inn, into the back of the vehicle.

Shaver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was not hurt in the wreck.

Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
