Lowes Foods closing 2 Triangle stores, including one near new Publix site

Lowes Foods has announced it will be closing two stores in the Triangle.

The Cornerstone Village store located at 1961 High House Road and the Capitol Crossings store located at 2900 East Millbrook Road will close Sept. 14. Other store locations in Cary, Raleigh, Apex and Clayton will remain open.

The Cornerstone Village store is located near where Publix is building its new store at the corner of High House Rd. and Davis Drive.

All employees from both locations will be offered positions at other area Lowes Food stores.

Beginning Friday, Aug. 16, merchandise at the two closing locations will be on sale at a discounted price. On Friday, customers can get 10 percent off on dairy, grocery and frozen items. Beginning Aug. 23, customers can get 25 percent off on those same items. They will then be 40 percent off beginning Sept. 6. Also on Sept. 6, customers can get 25 percent off on all fresh items.

Fresh Rewards, Gas Rewards and store assigned promotions and coupons will be immediately accepted at all other Lowes Foods locations.
