Greenville County Students start school today, but high school and middle school students will see some changes.

All students at high school and middle schools are required to wear IDs.

These will have their picture and school they are enrolled in on them.  Students must always be wear their badges during school hours.

The school district hopes this will add to the school security they already have.

"The school ID is specific to your school.  So if you go to school "A," it's going to look different than school "B."  We know what school you belong at because we do have students that try and visit other schools," said Greenville County Schools spokesman Oby Lyles.

Greenville County Schools will continue with their buzzer system for visitors.  You must have a picture ID with you and sign in at the office, before entering the building. Visitors will be required to wear an ID badge as well.

School Resource Officers will be present at all high schools and middle schools.  Police will patrol elementary schools regularly throughout the day.
