A Transylvania County School Board member arrested in connection with the vandalism of Howard's Rock at Clemson says he will not resign.

Our news coverage partners at The Hendersonville Times-News reports reported that 46-year-old Michael Rogers told the board Tuesday he will not resign after being charged with felony counts of obstructing justice and conspiracy.

The charges were filed after Rogers' son, Micah Rogers, was accused of damaging Howard's Rock June 2. Chairwoman Tawny McCoy says the board has no authority to remove a member accused of a crime.

Clemson University police arrested and charged Rogers and 17-year-old Alden James Gainey of Brevard last week. A warrant accuses Rogers of plotting with Gainey to provide false information to investigators.

Micah Rogers is charged with malicious injury to personal property, trespassing and illegal entry.
